The Buduburam Kitchen Project
What is the Kitchen?
The Buduburam Kitchen Project is a sanctuary for single mothers and their children who have run out of options. We provide holistic care, nutritious meals, and invaluable education, empowering the women to create positive change in their own lives and in their communities. We are determined to bring them the support and education necessary for a better life.At the Buduburam Kitchen Project, 100 women and their children will gather, learn how to cook nutritious meals, and eat together while receiving education necessary to life on the camp.
The seminars, taught by professional social workers and medical staff, will include the awareness and prevention of: domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, STDs, gender-based violence, malaria, water-bourne diseases, and child abuse.
In addition to seminars necessitated by the poor living conditions on the camp, the women will learn business management skills and have the opportunity to choose seminar topics they feel are most relevant.
In order to make the program have a lasting impact, the women will be given vocational training in a subject of their choice.
By supporting community-based organizations, SCHEFO encourages positive economic growth on the Refugee Camp and moves funding to local, women-led initiatives.
Help us empower women by helping us build the Buduburam Kitchen Project.
