Buduburam

Who we are...

Through community based initiatives, The SCHEF Organization seeks to provide Shelter, Clothing, Health care, Education, and Food to the communities within Buduburam Refugee Camp.

SCHEF is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that does not discriminate based on gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, or otherwise.

The Buduburam Refugee Camp, also known as the Liberian Refugee Camp, opened in 1990 to accommodate for refugees from the First Liberian Civil War. It is located 27 miles west of Ghana’s capital city, Accra. Although the UNHCR originally provided the necessary funds and programs to manage life on the camp, they have since pulled almost all funding.

Because there is no easy solution to the problems stemming from the Liberian Crisis, the international community has grown weary and decided it is easier to forget than to continue to act. At SCHEFO we ask, how can you “forget” human lives? We are building an international movement to provide the help and education necessary for the refugees to better their lives.
